Background
The Centre for Evidence Based Policy and Practice organised a series of six invitation-only seminars on the theme of Evidence for Accountability between October 2004 and September 2005. The group of invitees combined researchers and practitioners who were considering the uses of evidence in the audit, inspection and scrutiny functions of modern government in the UK. It was a genuine knowledge exchange activity, which aimed to develop unique insights and enable issues to be identified and defined that merit further investigation.
