Role & Rationale
The overall aim of RURU is to facilitate the production and use of practical knowledge that will assist in enhancing the role of evidence in public policy and public services. Developing evidence-based policy and practice requries more than simply the creation of a valid, reliable and accessible evidence-base. Ways have to be found to ensure that such evidence impacts on the policy process, service organisations and professional practice. The role of the unit is to develop a resource concerned with examining and improving the utilisation of evidence across the key public policy and public services areas of healthcare, education, criminal justice and social care.
